Meet Michael Carter Griffin

Michael Carter Griffin is a devoted public servant turned author, whose passion for storytelling was shaped by a lifetime of leadership, service, and small-town values. Born on August 5, 1963, in Williamston, a quaint town nestled in Down East, North Carolina, Michael built a career grounded in integrity, discipline, and a desire to make a positive impact.
A 1985 accounting graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, Michael launched his professional journey in Pinehurst at a regional accounting firm. In 1987, he was appointed Chief Finance Officer (CFO) for Moore County Government in Carthage, where he served faithfully for 17 years. During his tenure, he earned his CPA certification and numerous professional designations in public finance and local government.
Michael briefly transitioned to the private sector as CFO for Pine Needles and Mid Pines Resorts in Southern Pines. However, his calling to public service led him back in 2007, this time as CFO for Moore County Schools, where he remained until his retirement in 2015. His distinguished 30-year career left a lasting legacy in the communities he served.
Now enjoying retirement with his wife, Cathy, and their two sons, Joshua and Jacob, Michael has channeled his creativity and life experience into writing. He is the author of two books:
📘 Countdown to Greatness – an inspiring journey of faith, purpose, and perseverance
🎄 Santa Clawziz Comin-2-Town – a fun and imaginative holiday tale for readers of all ages
Through his writing, Michael continues his lifelong mission of encouraging, uplifting, and making a difference—one page at a time.
